BRYAN, Texas - They had their chances, but the College Park High School softball team could not push across a run and dropped a 1-0 decision to Bryan on the road Thursday in the 2014 regular season finale.

Forces playoff

The Lady Cavaliers (16-7, 6-6) stranded runners on second and third in the fifth inning and put a runner on third with only one out in the sixth inning but could not get the clutch hit in the pitcher's duel.

It squandered an outstanding pitching performance from College Park's Peyton Hutchens, who went the distance allowing just three hits while striking out six.

But Bryan (17-15, 6-6) pushed across a run in the second inning and two Lady Vikings pitchers combined to scatter six hits.

Julie Charrbonneau and Chelsea Dowell collected two hits apiece for the Lady Cavs.

The two teams will play again at 6 p.m. Monday at Montgomery High School for District 14-5A's fourth and final playoff berth. College Park brings in a three-game losing streak, its longest of the season. Bryan, meanwhile, has won four of its last five district games.
