Debbie Sukin named regional SVP and CEO of new Houston Methodist hospital in The Woodlands
THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Debbie Sukin is returning to Houston Methodist to serve as regional senior vice president and CEO of its soon-to-be built hospital in The Woodlands.
Sukin will be responsible for overseeing the development of the campus and, once it is built, serving as chief executive officer of the hospital in charge of the day to day operations. In her role as regional SVP she will guide two other Houston Methodist hospitals as they grow their population health strategies and expand their services within their communities.
Sukin began her career at Duke University Hospital and Health Network and then worked at Houston Methodist Hospital as the first executive dedicated to the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center. She left in 2002 to build the St. Luke's facility in the Woodlands where she has served as CEO for the past 10 years.
“ We are so fortunate to have someone with Debbie's expertise and familiarity with The Woodlands carry out our vision there,” said Marc Boom, M.D. president and CEO of Houston Methodist. “Debbie will build upon her past experience and we will benefit from her history of successfully redefining community hospitals and their ability to provide breadth and depth of clinical care close to home.”
Sukin will oversee the 470,000- square- foot, 193-bed hospital in The Woodlands, which will be built at the intersection of TX 242 and I-45. Groundbreaking is expected in early 2015, with the hospital completed in 2017. Construction includes a 135,000 square foot medical building which will open in late 2015. The $328 million campus will be modeled after Houston Methodist West Hospital. “I am confident that Debbie is the right leader to bring our long history of leading medicine and excellent patient care to the residents of The Woodlands,” Boom said.
