Township announces budget planning schedule

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Township produces an annual budget and five-year plan in preparation for setting the property tax rate each year.

The objectives for the budget include meeting the short-term and long-term needs of the Township, providing high quality, cost-effective services and amenities, providing enhancements to services as needed, maintaining and replacing capital assets as necessary, and creating financial flexibility for changing conditions and opportunities.

The schedule for the budget meetings and public hearings related to the 2015 budget and 2014 property tax rate:

Thursday, July 24, 2014 -- 8:30 a.m. Budget Workshop #2

Friday, July 25, 2014 -- 8:30 a.m. Budget Workshop #3

Tuesday, August 5, 2014 -- 8:30 a.m. Budget Workshop #4

Monday, August 18, 2014 -- 6 p.m. Public Hearing #1 (if required)*

Thursday, August 21, 2014 -- 9 a.m. Board Meeting-Presentation of 2015 budget

Thursday, August 21, 2014 -- 6 p.m. Public Hearing #2 (if required)*

Wednesday, August 27, 2014 -- 6 p.m. Board Meeting to adopt 2015 budget and 2014 property tax rate

All meetings will be held at The Woodlands Township Town Hall at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands, TX, 77381.

*Truth-in-Taxation laws require two public hearings on the property tax rate if the proposed rate is higher than the effective tax rate or rollback rate, whichever is lower.
