THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Tia Parsley, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in The Woodlands, combines her social work background and her passion for helping others to provide top individual, couples and family counseling.

Tia got her start in rural southern Arkansas, where the resources to help people were limited, and the area’s need for mental health help needed attention. She wanted to be a part of breaking family cycles and be more involved with families and behaviors.

“At the end of the day, helping people is what I wanted to do,” said Parsley.

She spent her time in Arkansas earning her Master’s in Education at Southern Arkansas University and acting as a member of the Division of Child and Family Services. After working closely with Juvenile Judges, Tia has also started programs to assist those suffering with substance abuse, mental health, behavioral issues and personality disorders. In addition to her many other accomplishments in Arkansas, she eventually had four outpatient mental health clinics.

Parsley’s services include individual, family, marriage, and online counseling. She specializes in addictions, anger management, behavioral issues, depression, anxiety, parenting, coping skills, self esteem, emotional distress, communication, connection and relationships.

Parsley’s background in social work and her advanced training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) set her apart in the private practice driven area of The Woodlands. Her training in CBT lets her easily look at and decipher the relationships between thoughts and emotions. Tia’s extensive training in DBT helps people suffering from borderline personality disorder (BDP) and has been shown to be effective in lessening suicidal behavior, psychiatric hospitalization, treatment dropout, substance abuse, anger and interpersonal difficulties. BDP is a type of disorder categorized by unstable moods, behavior and relations, and can be shown through reckless and impulsive behavior and problems with regulation thoughts and emotions.

In Parsley’s free time, she enjoys visiting the Waterway and listening to live music. She also has a pitbull that she rescued named Lily, along with four other cats that she rescued as well.
