With Monday being a federal holiday and day of commemoration, plus school pretty much being out for the summer for all the students, and a sudden drastic shift in the weather, this is shaping up to be one of those weeks to keep you on your toes. Houston Grand Opera’s Storybook presentation of The Armadillo’s Dream takes place today at The Woodlands Children’s Museum at 11 a.m. This inspiring and timely tale stars an armadillo named Sandy who lives on the Houston bayou and dreams of singing. Though discouraged by the creatures he meets, Sandy is magically transformed during a storm and his shell becomes a part of a production at Houston Grand Opera. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older.

The Woodlands Car Club & area auto enthusiasts gather at Market Street today from 6 - 10 a.m. for Cars and Coffee for a Cause, to continue efforts to provide a fun and creative way to give back to our community. The purpose of this event is to provide a morning charity car event to show off special vehicles, be a supportive partner with Market Street and the local community, share information about needful non-profit organizations in Montgomery County, and to give back monetarily as well. They will be collecting coins/change, or any monetary amount-cash or credit card, for their contribution to the Market Street “Change for Charities” program that will benefit four or more non-profit organizations each year in Montgomery County. They have collected and donated over $100,000 to more than 70 local charities from this event since 2009.
