Here's how some football teams did last week in the area:



Tomball Memorial vs. Brenham

Tomball Memorial dropped to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in district play after falling to perennial power Brenham 35-12 in a high school football game last Friday night.

Brenham improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league with the victory.

Tomball Memorial’s Lawrence Jackson hit Austin Kelley with a 26-yard touchdown pass, and Aaron Holland scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter as the two teams battled back and forth for the first 12 minutes.

But Brenham, which led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, scored in the second quarter to take a 21-12 halftime lead, and then coasted to victory in the second half.

Kelley completed 9-of-14 passes for 133 yards for Memorial. Jackson caught three passes for 47 yards, while Johnston Williams caught two balls for 40 yards.

Kelley also had 35 yards rushing, while Aaron Holland piled up 59 yards on the ground. Memorial finished with 238 yards of total offense.

Magonolia West vs. Tomball

Magnolia West opened district play with a 53-29 victory over Tomball last Friday night.

The win moved Magnolia West to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action, while Tomball fell to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Magnolia vs. Houston Stratford

The Magnolia Bulldogs dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in district play after opening district football action with a tough 21-7 loss to the Houston Stratford Spartans.

Jacob Frazier hit Cole McGowan with a 2-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to knot the game at 7-7.

But Stratford scored the final 14 points to earn the district win.

Magnolia managed only 210 yards of total offense, including only 70 yards rushing on 39 carries.

McGowan caught seven passes for 90 yards, while Frazier rushed for 28 yards for the Bulldogs.

Frazier also completed 9-of-20 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Klein Oak vs. Klein Collins

The Klein Oak Panthers saw their dreams of an undefeated season come to an end with a tough 28-6 loss to crosstown rival Klein Collins in a District 15-6A game last Thursday night at Klein Memorial Stadium.

The Panthers, 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the league, managed only two Marcus Ripley field goals (of 32 and 31 yards) during the defensive-minded contest.

Klein Oak, which had only 207 total yards, was paced by Jose Blankenship, who rushed for 34 yards and completed 17-of-24 passes for 130 yards and one interception.

Derrick Durden also rushed for 25 yards and caught seven passes for 48 yards.

Klein Collins, which moved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the league, was led by Justin Pratt, who rushed for 172 yards on 30 carries. Pratt also scored on an 11-yard touchdown run.

Nate Edmonds also rushed for 28 yards, including touchdown runs of 1, 1 and 2 yards.

Klein Collins finished the game with 266 total yards.
