UPDATE: Major lanes on I-45N at SH 242 have reopened.

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Woodlands Township has received notification that major construction originally scheduled for the weekend of September 26 has been postponed until the weekend of October 3. The construction relates to the overpass at I-45 and State Highway 242.

Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 PM through Monday, October 6, 2014, 2014 at 5:00 AM


IH 45 Northbound Closure: All IH 45 northbound main lanes from Research Forest/Tamina to FM 1488 will be closed to traffic. All northbound traffic will be diverted off of the main lanes to the northbound frontage road at Exit 79 (College Park/Needham Road). The northbound entrance ramp south of Research Forest/Tamina will also be closed. Traffic to remain on northbound frontage road.

IH 45 Southbound Closure: All IH 45 southbound main lanes will be closed to traffic from Windor Lake to Hope Road. Traffic will be diverted to southbound frontage road through the SH 242 intersection. Traffic will be allowed to re-enter IH 45 main lanes at Wellman Road.

Law Enforcement will be on site for traffic control. The maps below show the closures.

Daily/Nightly Lane closures


IH 45 Northbound Frontage Road will be closed at Shenandoah Park Drive to SH 242 on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00 pm until Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 5:00 am. All frontage road traffic will be diverted on to IH 45 main lanes at Shenandoah Park Drive and will have to u-turn at FM 1488 to access SH 242.

IH 45 Northbound Inside Main Lane will be closed from Shenandoah Park Drive to SH 242 on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 9:00 pm to Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 5:00 am.

SH 242 Westbound Lanes will be closed from IH 45 to Windsor Lake Blvd starting Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 9:00 pm to Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 5:00 am. Westbound traffic will be detoured at St. Luke's Way. All southbound frontage road traffic will be detoured at Windsor Lake Blvd to access SH 242 westbound.
