THE WOODLANDS, Texas - In an effort to get the public more acquainted with the very successful Lady Highlander volleyball program, a program that will be competing in the Texas UIL State Tournament for the second year in a row, we try and give as much publicity possible to each player on this more than stacked team. After all, this year's contingent consists of 10 athletes of which if they were missing just one, they would not be headed to the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland this weekend.

You've heard of 2013 TWHS graduate Kelly Quinn, right? You know, D-1 scholarship to LSU. How about Courtney Quinn? A senior this year and going ivy next year gracing the halls of the University of Pennsylvania.

This just in....there's one more Quinn and she is no less valuable than her two older siblings. She's Junior Colby Quinn and she's got a story to tell as well.

When speaking to Colby, you are made to feel very comfortable. Nice people tend to do that and she is about the nicest and kindest person you'll ever want to meet. However, don't confuse that description as being a weakness on the court. When the game starts, Colby plays as if she possesses ice in her veins and is as dependable as any player that has ever played for colorful Lady Highlander coach, Leslie Madison. Well, let's allow the coach to tell you her thoughts in regards to Colby Quinn.

"Colby has been a great addition to our team this year. She has a great personality and meshes well with everyone on the team. She is consistent on defense, serve and receive and works hard to get better every time she is on the court. One of my favorite things about Colby is that she is always smiling and nothing seems to get her down. I have been blessed to get to coach all of the Quinn girls and they are amazing kids."

Without further adieu, here's a look into the world of Colby Quinn in today's Woodlands Online Q & A:

When and how were you introduced to volleyball?

I started playing volleyball when I was nine at Woodlands Stars after a year of watching my older sister Courtney play her first year when she was nine.

Do you play for a select team now?

I play for the 17's top team at Woodlands Wave Volleyball.

How fun is it to play for the Lady Highlanders?

I like playing for this team because of how close we are on and off the court. In having only ten players, we really had the opportunity to get to know each other throughout the season, and strengthen the old friendships we've had for years. I've been playing with the four other juniors since I was in seventh grade, and I've been on a club team with each senior at some point in my volleyball career. The five juniors and five seniors connected instantly, and our team chemistry is very strong. Each of us feels comfortable playing around one another, which helps tremendously on the court.

Tell us how it is to play for your TWHS coaches.

The coaches take time to personally get to know us. We have share time after each practice and we all get to talk about our days. The coaches care about what we are doing and want to know more about us. They make sure we know that if we were in need of someone to talk to, any of the four of them would be approachable.

Do you like going to The Woodlands high school?

Very much so because the high level of academics make you more than prepared for college. Also, I like how the teams in the athletic program support one another and the students come together to support our school.

Do you have a volleyball role model?

Actually, I have two. My two older sisters, Kelly and Courtney. The sport has brought us closer and it serves as something we all share and can relate to. Some of my favorite volleyball memories have involved playing with them when I was younger. Being able to watch them play now is always inspiring.

How supportive has your family been in regards to volleyball?

My family is very supportive of one another and we are always trying to make each other better and pushing each other to be the best we can be. My parents never miss a game and are always encouraging us.

What do you like to do when you are away from school and volleyball?

I love to spend time with my friends and family. Through volleyball, I have met people similar to me, and made friendships that will last forever. I love playing other sports and staying active with these people. Also, I am involved in my church where I help guide teens through their Confirmation.

How much of a thrill has this season been for you to include making it to the Final Four?

After watching my sisters play in the state tournament, I am more than excited to be playing in the Final Four. I have wanted to be able to be in the position they were in and can't wait to be able to participate in the state tournament, especially with Courtney along with me.

What are your college aspirations?

I want to attend the University of Texas in Austin. I don't know what I want to major in, but I love math in school now. I won't be playing volleyball in college, so I am blessed to be able to have these memories in high school volleyball.

What do you hope to be doing after college?

You know, that's so far away and I have so much I need to be responsible for before I can even begin to think about what I'd be doing after college. No clue.

There you have it. As you can see, Colby is quite the valuable addition to the 2014 version of The Woodlands Lady Highlander volleyball program. An addition her teammates value very much.

You'll notice in getting to know this team that each player is a giver and THIS Quinn is no exception.
