Grammy-winning Soprano Nancy Curtis to sing National Anthem at The Woodlands Marathon

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Marathon Management, Inc. is pleased to announce that recent Grammy-winning soprano Nancy Curtis will return to sing the National Anthem for this year’s fourth annual Fidelity Investments The Woodlands Marathon and CHI St. Luke's Health The Woodlands Half Marathon, to be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. in The Woodlands.

Curtis, who resides in The Woodlands with her husband, Ryan, and two sons, Ashton and R.J., is part of Conspirare, an Austin-based and internationally acclaimed choral group that won the Grammy for “Best Choral Performance” for its album, “The Sacred Spirit of Russia,” at Sunday night’s 57th annual Grammy awards in Los Angeles.

She will also once again sing “God Bless America” at the Marathon’s Opening Ceremony on Friday morning at 11 a.m. during The Woodlands Marathon Mangement Health and Wellness Expo at the Marriott Waterway Hotel.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of Nancy’s acclaim and stature grace us again this year with her beautiful voice,” said race director Willie Fowlkes. “We’re even more honored in having her sing for us just weeks after winning her first Grammy award.”

The Baylor University honors graduate enjoys a multifaceted career as a singer of opera, oratorio, symphonic repertoire, and recitals. She has studied at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Italy, the Dante Alghieri School in Florence, Italy and the Geothe Institute in Rothenburg, German.

She has been invited to sing for many of our nation’s leaders including former Presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and former Texas governor Rick Perry.

Curtis has also had the privilege of singing our National Anthem for the Houston Texans, the Houston Rockets, the Houston Comets, the Chevron Houston Marathon and was recently honored to sing for the national commissioning of the USS Texas featuring former First Lady, Laura Bush.
