There Is an Independent Choice for the Township Board, Position 6

In this nonpartisan election, I, Chuck Meyer, am the 'Independent Candidate' as I am separate and independent of the two slates that have formed this year, the Bruce Tough/Ann Snyder-led slate (let's call that the Establishment slate) and the John McMullan/Matthew Burton-led Tea Party slate. Both of these factions, as are represented by these two slates, now control all the seats on the Board. They have turned a non-partisan board into a Tea Party/Anti-Tea Party slugfest. I encourage you all to think about why we have supposedly non-partisan elections at the Township and School Board level. In my view, local citizen leaders can be effective leaders, provided they maintain a level of independence from the politics that affect other institutions that don't have the luxury of being non-partisan. We now have an over-politicized Township Board with 4 to 3 votes along slate lines the norm. I have decided to not stand idly by while these two parties -- as that is what they have become -- destroy an institution that was never meant to be so politicized. To keep it from being a clean partisan sweep, I encourage you to deny both the Tea Party and Establishment camps a win in my race for position 6. For position 7, there is no independent choice, and for position 5, the incumbent Tea Party choice's strongest contender is on the Establishment slate. The best way to insure that they these two factions don't control each and every seat is to elect me to the Board. Please also insist I don't allow either of this factions to get their claws into me and co-opt me politically. If that ever happens, please vote me out of office as I will have definitely lost my integrity if that were ever to come to pass. And the one thing I can't stand is a politician that lacks integrity! We have enough of those at the national level; we don't need any more at the local level.

Chuck Meyer stands for a non-politicized Township Board

I am a mediator by training; I seek consensus, I don't sow dissension. I have given up on our Federal Government -- I will not give up on our local government. We deserve better -- and better is what I represent.

If you want a familiar well-known face on the Board, then vote for my opponent, Ann Snyder, and give the Establishment another vote. If you want a two year resident on the Board whose signs call our community 'Woodlands' and not 'The Woodlands' then cast a vote for naiveté and ignorance by voting for the Tea Party darling. If you want a voice for all of The Woodlands, a voice that is not beholden to the past or to any faction, then vote for me. The thoughtful, independent Candidate who acts with integrity, not for political gain is the smart choice. That choice is Chuck Meyer.

Albert Einstein is given credit for the following: 'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” Keep that in mind if you think you want to vote for politics as usual. You will not get different results. If you want a functioning, collegial Board, I am your best bet to see that the insanity stops.

I am Chuck Meyer, and these words are my own. Thank you for considering my candidacy.
