THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Children’s Museum has turned into a temporary art gallery – displaying “Making a Mark,” a touring collection of art and writings by children whose lives have been changed by cancer and blood disorders.

The exhibit, presented by the Periwinkle Foundation, will be on display at the museum located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280 in The Woodlands through Jan. 4.

The pieces featured in the show all have been created by children at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers.

“The ‘Making A Mark’ exhibit is a testament to how the arts play a vital part in the healing process,” Angela Colton, executive director of the museum, said. “We are proud to celebrate these young artists and writers – and to display their powerful forms of cancer self-expression.”

Part of the project includes the “Postcards from the Road” program in which viewers of the exhibit are invited to write a postcard to the artists. The Periwinkle Foundation will mail each postcard to the children to let them know the feelings and thoughts their works have inspired in others.

Fostering creativity and encouraging artistic expression are part of the mission at The Woodlands Children’s Museum.
