The Lady Highlanders maintained a solid lead through the first three periods of the game, but Summer Creek game back with great momentum and tied up the game 41-41. The Woodlands Head Coach Dana Bruton said she knew the game would be a tough one for the her team.

“We knew that because they’re so athletic that we would have to slash on all cuts and meet the passes,” Bruton said. “There were multiple lanes that we knew we had to go through those spots to be able to get the ball up the floor and get some great pressure.”

A foul in overtime on junior forward, Luisa De La Rosa, favored the Lady Highlanders and won them the game in overtime 43-41. Bruton said she was please with the way her team entered their first round of district games.

“Summer Creek is incredibly talented and have really talented scorers,” Bruton said. “You can’t ask much more from them than that.”
