MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – In response to the recent floods, Montgomery County United Way, now part of the United Way of Greater Houston, has opened a disaster relief center for those in need of immediate disaster case management. The center, located at 1600 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands Texas allows individuals and families affected by the flooding to receive face-to- face guidance from a single point of contact for a variety of resources and services.

“We know from past experience with disasters of this nature that a fully coordinated effort with the city, counties and non-profit service providers is the most efficient and effective approach to helping our neighbors heal and rebuild their lives,” said Anna M. Babin, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston. “United Way is at the forefront, working to bring long-term relief to the community.”

Recovery from a disaster can be a long and arduous road, with many experienced organizations offering assistance to those in need. Because these needs can vary drastically, it can be overwhelming to navigate the recovery process alone. Working with a case manager is the best way to get the most up-to- date information from one knowledgeable source.

Case managers are equipped to provide information on Montgomery County-based resources, such as assistance with Federal Emergency Management Agency registration and appeals, relocation services, creating a personal recovery plan to overcome issues caused by flooding, and a variety of other disaster-related unmet needs. Montgomery County residents can call 1-855- 742-5881 to get information on meeting with a case manager at the center, which is open daily, by appointment or walk- in, Monday – Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Individuals seeking critical health and human service programs can also call the 2-1- 1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE.
