More than 200 ladies pampered pink at Houston Methodist The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- It was a ladies’ night out, complete with indulgences, great food and lifesaving information on breast health.

Pamper Me Pink: A Celebration of Breast Health Awareness also allowed ladies to tour the spa-like Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands and schedule their mammogram.

Guests arrived at the pink-lit Houston Methodist The Woodlands Medical Office Building 1 on October 5, 2016, where they were greeted by Houston Methodist employees holding pink ribbons for them to wear. They were then escorted to the 6th floor of the medical office building where they walked the pink carpet to the festivities.

The 6th floor was beautifully transformed into a talk show setting with tufted chairs, couches and linen covered tables, where the guests became the captive audience, as doctors explained how they offer all-encompassing care and work with each patient to help them develop a regular breast health routine.

Another key message was the significance of the breast care center’s same day mammogram results.

Panelists included Dr. Magda Ghobashy, breast radiologist and medical director, Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at The Woodlands; Dr. Loren Rourke, breast surgical oncologist and Houston Methodist regional breast program director; and Dr. S. Benjamin Albright, plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Two breast cancer survivors also shared their stories and encouraged women to get their mammograms.

Following the presentation, ladies enjoyed mini makeovers by Nordstrom – The Woodlands and free massages.

Throughout the course of the event, breast care center employees were on hand to help ladies schedule mammograms. By the end of the evening, a number of ladies had made appointments, showing the evening’s message was well received, and they understood the importance of early breast cancer detection.
