THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Carol Stromatt, Indian Springs Village Association Board member and long-time advocate for children and elderly residents in The Woodlands, announced her campaign for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, Chair Position 7 today.

“I am eager to serve the community that I love by pursuing financially-sustainable, forward-looking solutions to the unique challenges we face in The Woodlands,” Stromatt said.

Early endorsements for Stromatt’s Township Board campaign have come from: Chairman of the Board and Founder of Global Shop Solutions, Dick Alexander; CEO of Performance Impact, Jane Lawson; and long-time friend and Indian Springs Village Association , Lloyd Matthews.

“I have worked with Carol for a long time. She is a dedicated professional with impeccable honesty and will do a great job for The Woodlands,” said Dick Alexander. Mr. Alexander is a long-time resident of The Woodlands, and a major employer within the Township.

“Carol believes at her core that we all have to work together for the good of the whole. She lives her values and pitches in to do whatever is necessary to get the job done. She sees the big picture and will deliver the larger vision for our entire community, ” said Lloyd Matthews, long-time friend, past Indian Springs and Woodlands Township volunteer.

Asked about her policy agenda, Stromatt said, “We are blessed to live in a diverse community where we can draw on a broad scope of viewpoints and life experiences to ensure our Township remains strong into the future. I intend to work with residents of all backgrounds to find a path forward on complex issues like resident mobility, MUD taxes, incorporation, and value-based community enhancements for the elderly and young families.”

Mrs. Stromatt is a hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, corporate officer and community servant who credits her parents and God for her passion for engagement. She is a native of East Texas and has been a resident of The Woodlands for 18 years. She and her husband, Richard, reside in the Village of Indian Springs where they have both been active members of the Indian Springs Village Association Board and Residential Design Review Committee for a decade.

Professionally Carol has over twenty years of direct involvement in the real estate business, and has served as Treasurer of General Development Corporation since 2001. “If elected,” Stromatt notes, “I will be the only current elected board member to have direct experience in commercial real estate—an asset, given the intricacies of responding to resident needs and steering Township interactions with the development company and local entities like MUDs and tax assessors. I understand where to push and when to pull.”

Carol has dedicated much of her personal life to volunteerism within the community. She has been an active Interfaith volunteer, providing weekly rides for elderly residents, delivering food and supporting back to school programs. She leads the Montgomery County Food Bank’s buddy backpack program at her church, and she can be found distributing Buddy Backpack food weekly to Montgomery County schools to prevent children from going hungry. Carol and Richard have been annual sponsors of the Montgomery County Women’s Center’s Winefest and Share-A-Family program. She is a Women of The Woodlands committee chair, Chi Omega sorority member and former chair, and Montgomery County Election Officer.

"Carol is the type of leader our community needs right now-- honest, caring, wise, experienced, involved and knowledgeable about The Woodlands. She has a keen business mind, is a skilled listener, a team player and she is able to be objective about what is best for our community. She’s the Energizer bunny! Carol has my vote, because she is a compassionate voice who can accomplish much needed things in The Woodlands,“ said long-time friend, Mary Halverson.
