Montgomery County river forecast; three shelters now open

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Watches and warnings remain in effect for Montgomery County:

  • Flash Flood Watch until August 30, 07:00pm
  • Flash Flood Warning until August 27, 07:30pm

Area flooding conditions continue to worsen as Tropical Storm Harvey stalls over and brings moisture from the Gulf over our area. Most of Montgomery County has seen more than 7 inches of rainfall over the last 24 hours. We can expect to see an additional 15-25 inches from Sunday to Friday.

Current river forecast:

  • The West Fork of the San Jacinto near Conroe is currently in minor flood stage at 112.84 ft. and is forecast to crest Monday afternoon in major flood stage at 120.2 ft.
  • The East Fork of the San Jacinto near New Caney is currently in moderate flood stage at 63.94 ft. and is forecast to crest tonight in moderate flood stage at 67.2 ft.
  • Spring Creek near Spring is currently in moderate flood stage at 96.01 ft. and is forecast to crest late tomorrow tonight in major flood stage at 110.4 ft.
  • Spring Creek at Tomball is in minor flood stage at 161.67 ft. and is forecast to crest tonight in major flood stage at 165.5 ft.
  • Peach Creek near Splendora is currently in major flood stage at 19.58 ft. and is forecast to crest tomorrow morning in major flood stage at 21.9 ft.
  • Caney Creek near Splendora is currently at 17.58 feet and is forecast to crest tomorrow morning in major flood stage at 22.8ft.
  • The West Fork of the San Jacinto near Porter is currently at 75.45 feet and is forecast to crest Tuesday morning in minor flood stage at 87ft.
