The Woodlands Township honors volunteers at Spirit of Service reception

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township Board of Directors recognized more than 200 volunteers at the annual Spirit of Service reception on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

The awards included Volunteers of the Year for the Township departments of Covenant Administration, Environmental Services, The Woodlands Fire Department, Community Relations and Neighborhood Watch.

Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch welcomed the group and thanked the many volunteers for their service.

“The true spirit of volunteerism abounds in The Woodlands,” he said. “We are truly fortunate to live in such a special place. One of the many things that make The Woodlands such a wonderful place to live is the residents who go above and beyond to improve our community. And for these people, we are truly grateful.”

Volunteer of the Year awards went to Alana Ashley for Covenant Administration, Tundi, Nicole and Ariel Devitt for Environmental Services, Tim Golding and Bruce Morris for The Woodlands Fire Department, Darla D. Bell for Community Relations and Stephen Terni for Neighborhood Watch.

The Woodlands Township Board of Directors also recognized Steve Leakey, Deborah Sargeant, Chris Florack and Ken Anderson with proclamations for their outstanding community service and leadership.

Also receiving recognition were members of the CERT: The Woodlands Community Emergency Response Team Committee, Development Standards Committee, the Law Enforcement Advisory Council, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Council, the Residential Design Review Committees, Visit The Woodlands Board of Directors and Marketing Committee and all eight of the Village Associations.
