Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy Girls Basketball Team Advances to State Playoffs

THE WOODLANDS, Texas-- Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy girl’s varsity basketball team advanced to the state playoffs after their win over Victoria Faith Academy Saturday night. The 52 - 30 victory under Coach Audra May secured the 2A TAPPS Regional Championship for the team.

"What an amazing journey this has been," stated Coach May. "Each young lady has contributed something special to our team. It has been a joy to watch them love and support one another and to see them accomplish goals that were set early in the season. Win or lose, these girls have made history!!"

Legacy Prep is a University - Model School (UUMS)) comprised of grades pre-kindergarten through 12th with 430 students. The school prepares students to be successful in college and life by providing a rigorous academic background that is rich in opportunities. Legacy Prep is a Christ-centered school that creates college-worthy, character witnesses for Christ.

According to team member Grace Morris," The win this Saturday can be attributed to each and every person on the team. Everyone played their best and we had great chemistry. I am very grateful to Coach May for teaching us, pushing us, and supporting us throughout the season. This team loves a challenge and no matter what happens this coming weekend I am proud of how far we have come." Saturday's win was one of the best team efforts by the Legacy Lions. Anna Rosa Peterson had 16 points, and Grace Morris ended with 13. Freshmen Avery Davis had her best game to date, scoring 11 points. And, freshman Amaya Harrell had eight. Chipping in two more apiece were Rachel Carlson and Caroline Freeman.

Legacy will play Shiner St. Paul in the TAPPS 2A State Semi-Final on Friday, March 2nd. Game time is 8: 000 PM at University High School in Waco.

Legacy Prep Athletic Director Clint McDonald added, " Our girls’ basketball team has advanced to the state tournament for the first time in school history. Congrats to Coach May and her girls, Legacy is very proud of their historical season and cannot wait to watch them play again on Friday."
