THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Is it really the end of the month? Are the dog days of summer coming to an end? Not quite yet. Here's what's happening this week in The Woodlands.

Space Cadets Collection Collection has drop-off day camps all summer long, with a wide variety of comic and game-related activities. But in their quest to provide variety, they're joining with Sentito Arts Foundation to encourage future singers, songwriters and producers 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday July 30. Campers will use digital devices to create their own music. Appropriate for age 10 and up. Cost is $35 including lunch. Register here (make sure you select the right class.)

Some 18 million people in the U.S. suffer from it, and some 200,000 people undergo surgery for treatment. Obesity is a national health crisis. Join Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center to learn more about weight loss surgery 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 1. This free seminar is for people with a BMI of 35 or greater with co-morbidities including type 2 diabetes, blood pressure, sleep apnea, infertility, incontinence, depression, and orthopedic problems due to weight. You will learn about different surgical procedures and support group meetings. Register here to reserve your spot.

Summer is great for getting outside, hanging out with friends and listening to great live music at Rock the Row in Hughes Landing. Flashpoint, a variety/dance/rock band, will take the stage 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 2. Grab a blanket and your picnic basket and come enjoy some sweet sounds with Rock the Row in Hughes Landing. Free and family friendly.

Yelba has been a hot hit in The Woodlands for several years now, and she just keeps getting better! Join Yelba and her band for a high-energy show with a Latin twist, 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. Friday Aug. 3 at The Westin at The Woodlands. Salsa, merengue, Bachata, Cumbia, Chacha and rumba the night away; and enjoy Mexican Street Tacos, margaritas, and tequila flights along with a full bar and late night bites. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

We're all super proud of our Houston Astros, but let's bring some of those good vibes closer to our community at the Boots vs. Badges Softball Game, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4 at McCullough Jr. High Scotland Yard. This annual showdown pitches the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office against The Woodlands Fire Department. It's free and family friendly. Concession sales benefit The Woodlands High School Booster Club. FYI, the teams tend to go back and forth with the big win. Who will it be this year? Here are the current standings:
