THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- We're heading into Labor Day, and The Woodlands will celebrate with its annual event on Sunday Sept. 2. But there's plenty going on before then. Check it out in this week's Top 5 Things to Do in The Woodlands.

Building with Legos has been a family favorite for many years, a pastime that many adults will still gladly get on the floor to play with their kids. These days, Lego is also a learning opportunity. Join The Woodlands Children's Museum 10 a.m. – noon Monday Aug. 27 for Lego-ology, as they incorporate the colorful blocks into science, math and literary concepts.

Show your support for fur babies as Operation Pets Alive celebrates its 400th Pups On Trucks Transport. OPA’s ground transport program gives shelter and community dogs second chances at loving homes by partnering rescues and shelters in areas of the country where there is a higher demand for adoptable pets. Send these four-legged friends off as they embark on their journeys to adoptive homes, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 29 in the parking lot at Blue Pearl Veterinary Clinic, 1646 Spring Cypress Road.

Who's got your back? The folks at Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable's office do. Meet Constable Gable and deputies from patrol, investigations and more at Coffee with the Cops 7:30 a.m. Thursday Aug. 30 at Momentum Coffee, 3555 Rayford Road. The informal gathering gives you a chance to chat about community issues, neighborhood concerns – or just get acquainted with the folks patrolling your neighborhood.

Speaking of the police, Billy D. Washington is headlining Comedy Night 8:30 p.m. Friday Aug. 31 at The Woodlands Resort, 2301 North Millbend Drive.
