Primrose Schools Donate to New Exhibit at The Woodlands Children's Museum

The Woodlands, Texas -- Local directors of Primrose Schools recently visited The Woodlands Children’s Museum to present a donation of more than $5,760 to benefit a new toddler exhibit at the museum.

Primrose Schools provides six child care locations in The Woodlands and Spring, and is planning to open a seventh location in Hughes Landing next year. Programs are offered for infants through kindergarten, as well as before- and after-school programs for children up to age 12.

“Each of our locations held fundraisers during the spring and selected an organization to receive the funds we raised,” stated RayChal Anderson, director of Primrose School of The Woodlands at College Park. “Several of our locations chose The Woodlands Children’s Museum, and we are excited to be part of the new exhibit.”

Primrose Schools is a national system of accredited private preschools with a vision to provide a balanced approach of purposeful play and nurturing guidance from teachers.

“Primrose Schools of The Woodlands and Spring host Spring Fling family carnival events, Yankee Candle sales, take-out dinners and various other events to raise money, which is given to the Primrose Children’s Foundation and back to our local community,” said Arlena McLaughlin, owner of Primrose Schools of The Woodlands and Spring. “It is a part of the Primrose Promise to teach our students from a young age to care and share with others.

“We are delighted to present part of this year’s Spring Fling proceeds to The Woodlands Children’s Museum,” McLaughlin added. “The museum serves our communities with hands-on activities for young children and is a real asset to families. Upgrading the toddler area of the museum is a perfect fit for our Primrose Schools.”

Through annual Spring Fling fundraisers, the McLaughlin’s and Primrose families in their schools have generously raised more than $200,000 for local and national charities over the past 19 years. The McLaughlin-owned schools also provide an academic, one year scholarship at each school for families meeting the criteria.

“The Woodlands Children’s Museum and Primrose Schools share a love of learning and a commitment to provide children with creative opportunities and the joy of discovery,” said Angela Colton, executive director of The Woodlands Children’s Museum. “The skills developed during early childhood are the focus of our toddler exhibit, and the donation from Primrose will greatly assist our fundraising efforts.”

Design elements for the new toddler exhibit are being finalized and will be installed during the upcoming year. The exhibit will have an ocean theme and feature a wavy walk to encourage physical development, a raceway and ramps for structured play, a crawl-through submarine to help toddlers learn new movement skills and a reading nook for families to interact and share quiet time together. Ocean-themed shapes, colors and textures will also provide a stimulating environment for young children.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum is accepting individual and corporate donations to assist with the fabrication and installation of the exhibit.

“To be able to provide museum-quality exhibits that will provide a safe and stimulating environment for the thousands of children who visit the museum each year, we rely heavily upon the generosity of our community,” said Colton. “Building and maintaining exhibits for children is quite expensive, which is why we are so appreciative of Primrose’s gift.”
