Entergy Texas Readies for Super Tax Day Events

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Entergy Texas customers will receive free tax preparation and have the chance to win money at Entergy’s Super Tax Day program held on several upcoming days.

Volunteer tax preparers, including Entergy employees, will be on hand at various locations help qualified residents claim federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC).

EITC is one of the nation’s most effective means of lifting needy Americans out of poverty. Throughout its service territory of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, Entergy has helped approximately 127,000 customers receive $224 million through the EITC program since 2011.

Upcoming events in Conroe and The Woodlands include:

· 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Conroe Central Library, 104 Interstate 45 North in Conroe

· 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Children's Books on Wheels, 9845 Sleepy Hollow in Conroe

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Montgomery County United Way Office, 1600 Lake Front Circle, Suite 248, in The Woodlands

In addition to tax preparation, customers who agree to save a portion of their total refund at Super Tax Day events will have an opportunity to win up to $50 in cash through a scratch off card promotion and will be entered in other drawings including a $10,000 grand prize from the national Save Your Refund program.

Since the program began in 2011, nearly 9,300 tax returns have been filed in Texas, with Texans receiving more than $13,123 in refunds.

“Services provided through Super Tax Day and the VITA program help power lives for customers, who can gain long-term benefits by claiming EITC,” said Sr. Customer Service Specialist Paula Odom. “As customers’ lives improve, communities benefit.”

Free tax preparation services are provided at VITA sites throughout the 2019 tax season. In some locations, local community partners are offering appointments for tax preparation services at local VITA sites throughout the tax-filing season, drop-off tax prep services, financial coaching, budget workshops, free legal services and more.
