Entergy Texas urges customers to prepare for Tropical Storm Edouard

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Entergy Texas is urging customers to finalize their storm preparations as Tropical Storm Edouard approaches the Southeast Texas coast.

The current National Hurricane Center forecast calls for 3 to 6 inches of rainfall across portions of our service territory, with up to 9 inches possible. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, and tropical-storm-force winds are possible along coastal areas.

Entergy Texas is prepared to respond to any impacts from Tropical Storm Edouard. The company activated its emergency operations center and strategically positioned crews and equipment across Southeast Texas ahead of the storm.

Customers should put safety first and continue monitoring the latest forecasts and guidance from local emergency management officials.

“Customers should be finalizing their storm plans,” said Stuart Barrett, vice president of customer service for Entergy Texas. “We encourage customers to stay in touch with us throughout the storm for the latest information on outages and restoration efforts.”

Stay safe during and after the storm

Entergy Texas encourages customers to take the following steps to stay safe:

• Stay away from downed power lines: Always assume a downed line is energized and dangerous. Call 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243) to report downed or damaged power lines.
• Avoid flooded areas: Never walk or drive through floodwaters. Flooding can hide electrical hazards, downed power lines and other dangers.
• Use generators safely: Never operate a generator indoors or in an enclosed space and follow manufacturer instructions.
• Stay indoors during severe weather: Avoid unnecessary travel as heavy rainfall and flooding could make roads dangerous or impassable.
• Keep your distance from working crews: Work sites can have any number of hidden dangers for the public, and distracting crews can cause accidents to happen.
