Entergy Texas provides $500,000 in summer bill relief to help vulnerable customers

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- For many of our neighbors, summer doesn’t just bring higher temperatures, it brings higher electricity use. Extreme heat often means running air‑conditioning longer and harder, which can lead to higher energy bills. For those on fixed incomes, higher summer bills can mean making difficult choices between paying for basic needs and keeping their homes cool.

That’s why Entergy Texas is expanding its bill support through its The Power to Care program. As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping bills affordable, we’re providing an additional $500,000 in summer bill relief to help more qualifying elderly and disabled customers stay safe and supported during the hottest months of the year.

The additional funding comes from proceeds raised during Entergy Texas’ 2025 The Power to Care Golf Charity Classic and supplements the program’s year-round assistance.

Funded by donations from Entergy employees, customers and shareholders, The Power to Care is administered by local partner agencies that provide direct financial assistance to customers age 60 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities that are facing hardship or in jeopardy of having their electricity cut off due to non-payment.

“Summer can be especially tough for customers already trying to stretch every dollar,” said Shirlene Cook, president of The Power to Care Board of Directors. “This extra support lets us show up for our most vulnerable neighbors when they need it most. No one should have to choose between essential needs and staying cool and safe.”

Local nonprofit partners within Entergy Texas’ service territory will distribute the additional funding, including organizations such as Interfaith of The Woodlands.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled. This funding means we can help even more seniors who really depend on this support.” said Jennifer Huffine, vice president of community impact at Interfaith of The Woodlands. “We’re always looking for additional resources. A contribution of this size will go a long way in helping us show up for our neighbors in need.”
