OAK RIDGE, TX --After lighting up the scoreboard a week ago at Klein High School, the Oak Ridge baseball team struggled to find their offensive firepower in a 2-1 loss at home to the Conroe Tigers. War Eagles starting pitcher Trey Valka had an up-and-down night on the mound, but pitched well enough to keep Oak Ridge in the game. Valka finished the night with 12 strikeouts, and left multiple batters stranded on base before being replaced by Colby Wyers in the final inning.

Conroe’s Tyler Renfro gave the War Eagle lineup trouble all night. Renfro went the distance, striking out four batters while only giving up three hits in his complete game win.

Oak Ridge came into Tuesday’s game undefeated in district play, holding a two-game lead over their rival, The Woodlands. The loss to the Tigers makes Friday’s showdown between the War Eagles and the Highlanders even more important. The Ridge now sits at 7-1 in District 15, 14-4-1 overall. For Conroe, this big win is their fourth in district play, moving the Tigers to an even .500 record in District 15. The win could jump them into a playoff spot as they currently sit a game outside the top four.

Oak Ridge will look to bounce back from the defeat when they host The Woodlands on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m
