THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The latest installment in the Battle of the Woods rivalry took place at Scotland Yard on Tuesday Night. Despite the name, the final meeting between The Woodlands and College Park in 2019 wasn’t much of a battle at all. The Highlanders rolled the Cavaliers 9-0 to keep their spot at the top of the District 15-6A standings.

Coach Eastman put junior pitcher Cameron Caley on the mound to start for the Highlanders. Caley’s performance did not disappoint as he was in control all night, striking out 11 CP batters and allowing just one hit in six innings of action. Caley made things easier for himself on the mound by picking up two hits and a couple of walks in his four plate appearances on the night.

Billy Decker was given the start for College Park in Tuesday’s ballgame, and while six runs in five innings doesn’t look great in the box score, Decker’s pitching on the night wasn’t bad. The problem for the Cavs was the six errors they committed during the ballgame. To have a chance to win, College Park needed to be at their best offensively and defensively. Six errors to go along with only mustering one hit is the recipe for a 9-0 shutout loss.

With the win, The Woodlands rise to 8-2 in district play, and 18-5 overall. Next on the Highlanders’ schedule is a trip to Klein Oak on Friday, April 5. It won’t get any easier for College Park, as the Cavaliers take their 2-8 district record into Friday’s home game with the other first-place team, Klein Collins.
