112 Pounds of Cocaine Seized from Traffic Stop on Interstate 69

ROSENBERG, TX -- A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper seized approximately 112 pounds of cocaine on I-69 during a April 4 traffic stop near Beasley.

At approximately 10:10 p.m., a northbound 2015 Nissan passenger vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper observed indicators of criminal activity. A consent to search the vehicle was granted by the driver. The vehicle search revealed an electronic aftermarket compartment within the floorboard and rocker panel, containing 112 lbs. of cocaine leading to the arrest of the driver and passenger for possession of a controlled substance, a first degree felony offense.

The driver was identified as Jaime Javier Rodriguez, 32, and the passenger was identified as Laura Cano Rodriguez, 57, both were from Mexico. Both were transported to the Fort Bend County Jail.

DPS Special Agents with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene to further assist with this ongoing investigation. There are no further details available for release at this time
