THE WOODLANDS, TX -- YMCA held its annual Kids Triathlon presented by Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands at the Branch Crossing location last Saturday. This year’s event was their most successful race in terms of participants and dollars raised. A total of 294 athletes raised $20,000 for the YMCA Annual Campaign.

The heat and humidity didn’t stop the kids from having a fun time while swimming, biking, and running. The 6-9 age group’s course featured a 50-meter swim, a 1-mile bike, and a 400-meter run. The 10-12 age group swam 100 meters, biked two miles, and finished with an 800-meter run.

Jacob Hayes was the fastest male competitor in the 6-9 age group with a time of 7:12.8, while Nikki Harrypersad led the female division at 7:53.6. The fastest male in the 10-12 was Ilen Menon, he clocked in at 11:25.4. Stoya Laydevant’s time of 10:50.2 took home first place in the female group.

Roxanne Davis, Community Liaison for The Woodlands YMCA, was pleased with the event.

“Our success and the opportunity for the YMCA to serve more kids and families, ‘Multiplying Our Impact in 2019’ is because of the community,” said Davis. “The kids and families all had a fabulous time.”
