THE WOODLANDS, TX -- YMCA held its annual Kids Triathlon presented by Texas Childrenā€™s Hospital The Woodlands at the Branch Crossing location last Saturday. This yearā€™s event was their most successful race in terms of participants and dollars raised. A total of 294 athletes raised $20,000 for the YMCA Annual Campaign.

The heat and humidity didnā€™t stop the kids from having a fun time while swimming, biking, and running. The 6-9 age groupā€™s course featured a 50-meter swim, a 1-mile bike, and a 400-meter run. The 10-12 age group swam 100 meters, biked two miles, and finished with an 800-meter run.

Jacob Hayes was the fastest male competitor in the 6-9 age group with a time of 7:12.8, while Nikki Harrypersad led the female division at 7:53.6. The fastest male in the 10-12 was Ilen Menon, he clocked in at 11:25.4. Stoya Laydevantā€™s time of 10:50.2 took home first place in the female group.

Roxanne Davis, Community Liaison for The Woodlands YMCA, was pleased with the event.

ā€œOur success and the opportunity for the YMCA to serve more kids and families, ā€˜Multiplying Our Impact in 2019ā€™ is because of the community,ā€ said Davis. ā€œThe kids and families all had a fabulous time.ā€
