THE WOODLANDS, TX – Camp For All, a local not-for-profit organization and unique, barrier-free camp working in partnership with more than 65 other not-for-profit organizations to enrich the lives of children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs and their families, will host its second annual Over The Edge fundraiser and rappelling event in The Woodlands®. The annual event will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at One Hughes Landing, with fundraisers rappelling over the edge of an 115-foot building, thanks to a generous donation from The Howard Hughes Corporation®, this year’s Rooftop Sponsor.

The Camp For All event will help send campers to Camp for the more than 11,000 that it serves each year at its 206-acre, barrier-free facility in Washington County, through partnerships with more than 65 not-for-profit organizations. Structured as a crowd-funding event, participants are encouraged to create teams to help them achieve their fundraising goals as they prepare to “go Over The Edge.”

The second annual family-friendly event will take place from morning until evening and will feature Camp For All-inspired lakefront camp entertainment and activities in addition to viewing spots for those cheering on rappellers. Facing the 200-acre Lake Woodlands, participants will rappel down the lake-facing roof-top of the 115-foot One Hughes Landing building. Food and drinks will be available during the event from vendors in Hughes Landing®.

This year’s event is especially rewarding, as the organization recently completed its first summer camp partnership with Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands through its award- winning Camp For All 2U initiative. Camp For All 2U brings camp activities to hospitalized children who cannot attend Camp For All in Burton, Texas. With a focus on helping children and adults with challenging illnesses and special needs, Camp For All and Camp For All 2U allow campers to experience a variety of recreational activities that are not traditionally barrier-free.

Camp For All aims to bring in $140,000 through the annual fundraising event. “We’re so excited to bring this year’s Over The Edge event to The Woodlands. Camp For All touches the lives of so many families not only in the Houston area, but also in the state of Texas and beyond,” says Camp For all President and CEO, Pat Sorrells. “It feels only natural to bring the event outside of the city so that we as an organization can be present in the areas we are impacting. After a rewarding summer of bringing Camp For All 2U to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands and six other hospitals, it feels as if we’ve come full circle.”

The Howard Hughes Corporation is supporting this year’s event not only by providing the venue and building from which individuals will rappel, but also as many of its own internal team members will be fundraising for the event and rappelling themselves. Tenants will get involved, as well, by creating their own teams and cheering on the rappellers as they go Over The Edge.

“Some of our team members went Over the Edge last year, and their enthusiasm for this tremendous cause provided the motivation to learn more about Camp For All and get the company more involved this year, said Jim Carman, Senior Vice President, Commercial Development for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “We at Howard Hughes are honored to partner with Camp For All, and look forward to a successful fundraising campaign.”
