HS Volleyball: Oak Ridge nearly upsets ranked Klein

OAK RIDGE, TX -- Although the War Eagles came up short in their 3-2 loss to Klein, Oak Ridge pushed the Bearkats to the brink, something no one has done in district play this season. Coming into Tuesday’s game, the top 10-ranked Klein had yet to lose a single set in District 15-6A. That includes a convincing sweep of another highly ranked team, The Woodlands High School. Oak Ridge winning two sets on such a dominant team can’t be overlooked. Their performance in the close loss will be a boost to their confidence down the stretch in their battle for a playoff spot. Nevertheless, Klein is still unbeaten in the district. The Bearkats showed great resiliency to pull off a win in a tough environment. They had to handle their first moment of failure on the road. Rather than falling apart, they looked as if they grew stronger in the sets after a loss. Klein survived to remain in first place with a 25-22, 22-25, 25-8, 24-26, 15-9 victory.
