Suspect From Montgomery County ICAC Investigation Sentenced to Life in Prison

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On Thursday, October 10, 2019, in Warrant County, Ohio Defendant Jimmy Smith, 35, was sentenced to Life in Prison for seven felony offenses. Smith was sentenced for one count of rape of a child under 13, two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, one count of endangering children, one county of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, and two counts of gross sexual imposition. Detective Jerry Serratt, with Montgomery County Constable's Office Pct. 1 and the Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce, began an investigation on March 11, 2019 on a subject that sent him images of child pornography. The investigation led to the identification of two victims that the Defendant had access to. Within 12 hours of receiving the images of child pornography, Det. Serratt identified Smith and the children in the images, made contact with the local Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce in Ohio and the Defendant was successfully taken into custody. The two child victims were recovered and received follow up care and treatment. Assistant District Attorney Laura Bond said, 'Two little girls were saved in less than one day by the extraordinary and rapid investigation by Detective Serratt, Sgt. Weithofer and Det. Cooper with the Lebanon Ohio Police Department'
