THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Today marked the beginning of the next chapter in the lives of many high school football players across the country. December 18 is the beginning of the Early National Signing Day period for Division I football.

Plenty of schools in The Woodlands area had players sign today including John Cooper School where offensive lineman Kase Harris made history becoming the school’s first D1 football signee.

“I’m excited to start the next chapter in my life,” said Harris. “I knew from the start that I wanted to go to an elite college. Davidson is an elite college, and with Davidson having connections and alumni everywhere, it really ticked all the boxes for me.”

Kase Harris being the first D1 signing for John Cooper football is just another example of the program’s recent turnaround that has made Cooper a top contender in the 3A division of the Southwest Prep Conference.

“I just wanted to help transform the program,” said Harris. “A lot of people had looked at Cooper football and thought that you couldn’t do anything from it, so I just wanted to start a wave and prove that you could go big places with Cooper football.”
