THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership (EDP) held their Quarterly Partner Luncheon at The Woodlands Resort on Friday, January 10, 2020. Over 230 partners and guests heard from Vicki Hollub, President and Chief Executive Officer of Occidental.

Occidental’s acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation was one of the largest energy transactions to occur last year and included Anadarko’s campus in The Woodlands. In December, Occidental sold The Woodlands properties to The Howard Hughes Corporation®, including the two iconic towers along Interstate 45 and signed a 13-year lease for the larger, 808,000 square foot tower at 1201 Lake Robbins Drive and the nearby warehouse. Ms. Hollub reported at the EDP luncheon that Occidental’s Gulf of Mexico and International teams will remain in The Woodlands. Their occupancy of the one tower represents the largest tenant in The Woodlands, which brings significant economic benefits to taxpayers.

Occidental is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the United States, Middle East and Latin America. It is the leading producer and largest acreage holder in the Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. It is also the number one producer in both the Denver-Julesburg Basin of Colorado and the Uinta Basin of Utah and number four in the Gulf of Mexico. Occidental is advancing a lower-carbon future with its subsidiary Oxy Low Carbon Ventures, which promotes innovative technologies that drive cost efficiencies and economically grow its business while reducing emissions. Occidental’s midstream and marketing segment provides flow assurance for its oil and gas segment, while maximizing the value of its products. OxyChem, its chemical subsidiary, is among the top three U.S. producers for the principal products it manufactures and markets. During her talk, Ms. Hollub shared experiences from her career at Occidental, which included holding a variety of management and technical positions with responsibilities on three continents, including roles in the United States, Russia, Venezuela and Ecuador. EDP partners and guests truly valued the rare opportunity to hear her personal experiences in her 35-year career with the company, which were both inspiring and fascinating.

Gil Staley, CEO of The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership, said, “I am encouraged that Occidental will have a significant presence in our community. Energy still represents the largest business sector for The Woodlands Area and Occidental will continue to play a key role in that industry.”
