SHENANDOAH, TX – The Christ Community School Board voted unanimously to close at the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Classes and activities will continue as scheduled through May.

The school board balanced the declining enrollment trends over the last several years with the heavy mortgage on its main building. Founded in 1996, Christ Community School has served hundreds of students from preschool to seventh grade for 24 years.

“Closing the school was a very difficult decision for our leadership and our board that marks a difficult transition for all our families,” said Jessica Pierrel, Principal of Christ Community School. “We are all grateful for the 24 years God has allowed us to impact so many children and our community. But we understand that many of His gifts are for a season, and the numbers make it very clear that we do not have the funds to operate beyond this school year.”
