Howard Hughes Corporation Presents College Scholarships to 14 Local High School Graduates

THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE:HHC) is pleased to have awarded scholarships to 14 local graduating students from The Woodlands High School, The Woodlands College Park High School, The John Cooper School, Tomball High School and Willis High School as well as two students in Bridgeland® as they pursue a college education.

The awarding of scholarships from The Howard Hughes Corporation is an educational funding initiative which began in the 1980s. Through the decades, The Howard Hughes Corporation, as developer of the award-winning master planned communities - The Woodlands®, The Woodlands Hills® and Bridgeland - has awarded approximately 225 scholarships to high school graduates.

The Howard Hughes Corporation is also funding four scholarships through an endowment at Lone Star College System. The first endowment started in 1998 with the first awarding of a scholarship in 2001. The Howard Hughes Corporation also works together with the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation and the United Way of Greater Houston to sponsor scholarships.

We are proud to support our students as they pursue their dreams of a higher education. They are tomorrow’s leaders.”

Along with the awarding of scholarships, The Howard Hughes Corporation contributes to over 130 local nonprofit organizations each year through its HHCares initiative, a community focused philanthropic funding and volunteerism program.

“Our HHCares initiative provides our company and our team members the avenue to give back to our community in a variety of ways. We know that these graduates will represent our community in so many positive ways as they enter the next phase of their education and lives. In addition to education, the HHCares program focuses on many nonprofit organizations dedicated to the arts, health, environment, economic development and helping those in need, positively impacting our community,” stated Jim Carman, President - Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation.

Aleena Fayaz – The John Cooper School, attending The George Washington University
Tyler Clough – The Woodlands High School, attending Georgetown University
Ryan Hightower, Tomball High School, attending The University of Texas at Austin
Morgan Masso - The Woodlands High School, attending Texas A&M University
Sarah Meyers – Bridgeland High School, attending Texas A&M University
Zachary Muckler, Tomball High School, attending The University of Texas at Austin
Mark Alan Murrell – The Woodlands College Park High School, attending Blinn College
Rachel Parvino, Tomball High School, attending The University of Texas at Austin
Peyton Payne - Willis High School, attending The University of Texas
Jordan Pimentel – The Woodlands High School, attending Louisiana Tech University
Colton Rowe - The Woodlands College Park High School, attending Angelo State University
Alexa Signorelli - The John Cooper School, attending Texas A&M University
Eliana Torrez – Bridgeland High School, attending Abilene Christian University

Students were selected by their high school, based on academics and extracurricular activities. Many of the students residing in The Woodlands attend The Woodlands College Park High School and The Woodlands High School. Students living in The Woodlands’ Village of Creekside Park® attend Tomball High School. Willis High School is the academic institution students living in The Woodlands Hills attend. Students in Bridgeland attend Bridgeland High School. The John Cooper School is a private co-educational, college preparatory school which was established in The Woodlands over 30 years ago.
