Montgomery County COVID-19 Update for September 1, 2020

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Montgomery County Public Health District, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, can confirm the following update related to COVID-19:

· TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 64 to 8,800 since yesterday’s report.

§ We are continuing to process cases that were reported to The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) directly by healthcare providers and entered into the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS), run by the CDC. Out of the 64 new total cases since yesterday’s report, 10 (from the NEDSS system) tested positive prior to August 17th.

· ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 decreased by 208 to 1,190 since yesterday’s report. On Tuesdays, we factor in additional cases we have been unable to contact for more than 30 days. That represents 178 additional “inactive” cases today.

· 28 residents are known to be in the hospital, as a result of contact investigations. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.

· 6,087 people have clinically recovered.
