The Woodlands, TX -- Tonight’s game between the Lamar Texans and The Woodlands Highlanders at Woodforest Stadium will be a very interesting matchup. The Highlanders are coming off a 21-3 loss to Pearland, while the Texans are suiting up for the first time in 2020.

On one hand, the Highlanders at home versus a team in its first game seems like a great opportunity to bounce back and pick up their first win of the year. However, The Woodlands’ offensive struggles in Week 1 combined with facing a strong defensive team eager to get back on the field makes Lamar a dangerous opponent.

The Woodlands defeated Lamar 31-10 last season on the road. The Highlanders returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to go along with forcing five turnovers on the night. A large part of the production that night is no longer on the roster, so the Highlanders will need fresh faces to replicate those same big plays tonight.

The Woodlands offense will have to avoid shooting themselves in the foot to pick up a win tonight. QB Connor Dechiro’s 225 yards passing and 74% completion percentage in Week 1 were good numbers, but three INTs wiped away any chance of a good performance. With a cleaner game on offense, the Highlanders can get their season moving in the right direction. Prediction: The Woodlands 24, Lamar 14
