THE WOODLANDS, TX -- “Light Bearers: The Awakening” is a fantasy fiction novel, set in present-day times. In this first installment of the Light Bearers series, written by local author Mindy Hite, readers are introduced to orphaned sisters, Sarah and Amelia. The girls lost their parents at a young age and went to live with their rich uncle. While Amelia loves the life of luxury, Sarah struggles to feel at home. After making a dark and startling discovery, Sarah is forced to question everything in her life and unlocks a power within herself that she never knew she had. Now she must use this power to survive.

The following is a Q&A with Mindy Hite:

What inspired you to write this book?

In May 2018, I had a divine and vivid dream. I woke-up feeling like the world I had dreamt truly existed or at least needed to exist. My husband suggested I write the dream down. I followed his advice, but then tried to let it go. I have been a stay-at-home mom for eight years and even my prior career was as a physical therapist. I never had a desire to write a book. When I kept thinking about this dream, however, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was supposed to write more, to expand on the dream world. Eight months after the initial dream, I finally sat down at the keyboard and began to write. When I stopped, I had written 3,000 words in 2 hours. Needless to say, I was in shock. Not only had I written that many words, but what I wrote was good (in my opinion). The rest of the book progressed in that way. I would have no idea of where I was headed or what the characters would be like; I would just sit down and write. The words don’t even seem to come from me, they simply pour forth through my fingers. While writing “The Awakening”, I started having dreams about a sequel, “Light Bearers: The Deliverance” (in editing, yet to be published). Similarly, while I was writing “The Deliverance”, I started having dreams about its sequel (untitled at this point). Many have asked if there will be a fourth book and I have to answer honestly that I just don’t know yet. I feel called to continue writing until the story is finished and the words cease.

What do you hope readers gain from reading your book?

One word – Hope. I want the readers to gain hope through this story. This book is full of action and suspense, but at the same time, offers an escape from this present darkness. In fact, Sarah encounters the darkness we are currently facing in her life, starting with the people she thinks she knows best. It’s a classic tale of good vs. evil, but refreshing and life-giving. When readers finish the book, I hope they have gained a new sense of peace and a stirring to utilize the Light within them.

How do you feel now that it’s finally published?

I have been asked by many people if it’s a relief to have it published and out there, but I don’t feel a sense of release. I believe that’s because the work isn’t finished yet. Now, I need help to spread the word and get this book into the hands of those who really need it. Those who are in their darkest days and need a way out. Those who think this is the end of the line and need to be shown they can have a new beginning. My prayer is that the next generation of Light Bearers rises up to answer the call that started with my dream two and a half years ago.

Originally from Indiana, Author Mindy Hite currently resides in Spring, Texas. She is a stay at home mom to three young boys. She has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) and started staying home when pregnant with her second child, over eight years ago. Between launching a book, homeschooling her boys, and the tasks of daily home life, Hite doesn’t have much free time. When she does get a moment to herself, she loves to get lost in a good book or do some baking to share with those near to her. Her faith is what she values most in life.

“My salvation in Jesus … He is the author and perfecter of my faith,” she said. “He is the author and perfecter of this book. I’m just thrilled that He offered me the chance to come along on the ride in the work He is doing.”

Hite said that she enjoys the contrast writing provides to everything else she does in her life. “It’s my time to take a moment away and escape into a different world and commune with God,” she explained. “I don’t ever know where I am going when I sit down to write, but I always enjoy the adventure and journey.”

The print copy of “Light Bearers: The Awakening” is available for purchase at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and BookBaby.com. The e-book is available anywhere e-books are sold. In addition, an Audiobook is expected in the future. For further information, visit Mindyhite.com.
