Cooper Athletes Commit to Compete at the College Level on National Signing Day

THE WOODLANDS, TX - The John Cooper School Athletic Department held a signing ceremony on Wednesday, February 3, National Signing Day, in the Dunlap Gymnasium, to recognize senior athletes who will be competing at the college level in the fall of 2021. Cooper students, parents, faculty, coaches and teammates joined Athletic Director John Hoye to honor the student athletes who will compete in diving, golf, basketball, track and field and cross country.

“These athletes have all worked hard while at Cooper and we join them in celebrating their successes,” Hoye said. “We wish them all the very best and look forward to following their college athletic careers.”

Grant Carter will represent the golf team at Mary Hardin-Baylor University, Belton, TX and Adelaide Herman has committed to dive for Williams College, Williamstown, Mass. Will McDermott will run cross country for Rice University, Houston, TX. Jack O’Riordan will compete on the track and field team at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa. Ajailah Ogiemwonyi will play basketball at Garden City Community College, Garden City, Kan.

We will be honoring the following three athletes who will be signing at a later date–James McKenzie will play tennis at Haverford College, Haverford, Pa. In football, Jake Peterson will play for the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. and Ben DeLoit will compete in sprint football at The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, West Point, N.Y.

These eight athletes join five Dragons who signed on at a signing day in November. AJ Harrell will who will represent the South Dakota School of Mines on the volleyball court, and four athletes have committed to play baseball in college–Anthony Giannette, Louisiana Tech; Jacob Rebrook, Pepperdine University; Will Nath, Nichols College and Nathan Weisoly, Dickinson College.
