TCID Adopts Rules for Town Green Park
The Woodlands, Texas-- The Board of Directors, Town Center Improvement District (TCID) in The Woodlands, has adopted a series of rules and regulations governing the use of Town Green Park.
Opening April 1, 2006, Town Green Park, the ?downtown central park? of The Woodlands, is located on the banks of The Woodlands Waterway® between the South Montgomery County Library and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The park will be the site of major community events including the Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival, Lighting of the Doves and The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.
?Like any community gathering place, it is important to establish parameters for operating the park in a manner that maintains its status as a friendly gathering spot,? says Frank W. Robinson, president, Town Center Improvement District.
The park will be open daily: Sunday ? Thursday from 6 a.m. ? 11 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. ? midnight.
Bicycles, roller-skates and skateboards are prohibited, except on pathways designated for these purposes. Pets must be securely leashed while in Town Green Park and alcoholic consumption is prohibited within any area designated for ?Children?s Use.? While the park features large open areas, organized sports events, such as baseball or football practice, is not allowed in the park.
Other rules adopted by the Board make it unlawful to play loud music or sell goods and services in the park; handle fire or fireworks or items such as air rifles, spring guns, bow and arrow sets and slings.
It is unlawful to remove or deface any monument, fountain, wall or property within the park and all trash should be discarded in designated bins. It also is unlawful to hunt any animal within the park.
Lastly, Town Green Park is available for the general public at all times. Special event permits from TCID are required to reserve or use the space for events such as weddings.
Individuals who violate the rules of Town Green Park are subject to citation or arrest by law enforcement officers and may be prosecuted in the Justice of the Peace Court with a fine up to $500 per offense.
?We trust the community will find these rules to be fair and in keeping with the positive environment that exists within the park system within The Woodlands and surrounding areas,? adds Robinson.
The 100th park in The Woodlands, Town Green Park is designed for ?free play? where individuals can enjoy open green space. Almost two football fields long, Town Green Park includes a Great Lawn, a Children?s Garden, a Sculpture Garden, a linear border of shade trees and more than 50 types of perennial plants and flowers.
