CONROE, TX -- Six long-time Montgomery County residents have recently launched Third Coast Organic Foods, a certified organic food manufacturing business, offering a variety of sugar-free organic wine vinaigrette salad dressings.

These delicious and healthy vinaigrettes come in five flavors: Raspberry Wine, Lemon Mustard, Classic Red Wine, Balsamic Italian, and Haute Pepper. By design, they are very light in texture and taste, so they won’t overwhelm the natural flavors of the salad’s ingredients. Each is made with organic and non-GMO ingredients, with no sugar added.

The family, a brother and sister with their respective spouses and adult children, not quite ready to completely retire, had an idea that was springboarded when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. At the time, brother John Massey was ready to reduce his work schedule to part-time while his wife Therisa was ready to embrace her retirement after 32 years in education. John’s sister, Kathy Sanders and her husband Steve both had retired several years earlier from their respective professions. While restricted from traveling and local outings due to COVID-19, the family members saw an opportunity to keep active while pursuing a love of great food and created a line of healthy, organic sugar-free food products with all the taste and none of the guilt.

Armed with two decades of food manufacturing knowledge plus healthcare, non-profit and education experience, they delved into starting Third Coast Organic Foods early last year.

With a company slogan of “To Your Health!”, the family members are excited to have created these delicious, high-quality natural food products to help people enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Organic products do not contain any toxic chemicals (such as synthetic pesticides, arsenic-containing herbicides, chemical food additives such as flavorings, color and preservatives, antibiotics, synthetic hormones, and industrial solvents). In addition to the absence of artificial chemicals, 'organic' means not genetically engineered (Non-GMO), and having not used ionizing irradiation, which can cause free-radicals and the removal of vitamins. The USDA organic seal found on all certified organic products ensures that the food is ‘whole’ and automatically Non-GMO.

Partner Kathy Sanders notes, “I have thoroughly enjoyed creating this new business with my family over the past year. It was a tedious year-long process to obtain our USDA Organic Certification but we did it! Within that year we successfully produced a product ready to market. We are proud of our delicious dressings, which are lovingly packaged by hand, and we can’t wait to see where the future takes us.”

Following the initial online e-commerce, Sanders said the group aims to diversify their offerings, such as gift packages, marinades, and sugar-free cocktail mixers, and eventually have a presence in local farmer’s markets and area grocers.

The family-owned organic food manufacturing plant operates from their newly-developed commercial kitchen located in south Conroe, in the northeast area of I-45 and Hwy. 242 just north of The Woodlands.
