Montgomery County COVID-19 Update for May 7, 2021

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Montgomery County Public Health District, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, would like to encourage residents to take advantage of mass vaccinations happening now in our county.

Multiple providers, including St. Luke’s and Lone Star Family Health Center, are offering first and second doses at Woodforest Stadium every day this week. If you have questions, please call the Montgomery County COVID-19 Call Center at 936-523-3916. The call center is available Monday - Thursday from 8:00am - 4:30pm or Friday from 8:00 - 4:00pm.

Other hospitals, physicians’ offices, and pharmacies also have vaccines available for all adults. Please check their websites and Facebook pages for additional information. You can find a list of providers and additional information on the DSHS website here: https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/coronavirus/immunize/vaccine-hubs.aspx.

Today, we can confirm one additional death related to COVID-19.
• A woman in her 80s, from Magnolia, died in the hospital. She had co-morbidities in addition to testing positive for COVID-19.

We can also confirm:
• TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 84 to 53,059 since Thursday’s (5/6) report. Of the 84 new cases, 80 were tested since 4/22/2021.
• ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 decreased by 106 to 1,391 since Thursday’s (5/6) report. On Tuesdays and Fridays, we account for additional inactive cases who we have been unable to contact for 30 days or more. Today, we added 133 inactive cases.
• 102 county residents are known, as a result of contact investigations, to be in the hospital. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.
• 28,048 people have clinically recovered.

The Testing Positivity Rate for Montgomery County remains at 8% for the 4th consecutive week. This number is updated weekly on Wednesdays. Source: UT Health, School of Public Health
