An Interview with Jim Wicklund, Managing Director at Stephens Inc.:

Q: What are your views on the Energy Industry, the significance of the Siemens Globant partnership, and the Accelerating Digital Transformation?

Views on the energy industry - I am positive on the outlook for the industry.  Crude oil and natural gas are used in more products than most anyone knows and while gasoline will be the first product to start getting phased out, the electric power used for EVs will be generated by  wind, solar and natural gas and so far, the most economic hydrogen production is from natural gas.  The industry will be smaller, more technical, more efficient and more profitable but it will not go away.

Significance of Globant and Siemens - Partnerships are going to be required as a way to expedite and educate the shift to more comprehensive pursuits of efficiency, reduced downtime, increased profitability.  The existing relationships and their leadership in technology innovation and use is the ideal avenue to help the industry achieve its goals.

The Accelerated Technology Transformation - The industry has been “transitioning” for well over a decade but the computer horsepower, the processing algorithms and the ability to learn (AI) have hit a very highly accelerated point in their development and is now available to the energy industry to continue its transition.  The acceleration is due to availability and economic necessity.  When those stars align, the process accelerates and the demand across industry keeps that pressure on and it’s what convinces all players to jump on board.
