Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Livestock Unit Makes Arrest in Cockfighting Incident

NEW CANEY, TX -- On November 28, 2021, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of Cockfighting at a residence in the 25900 block of Thatcham Road in New Caney, Texas. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered obvious signs of cockfighting, including a makeshift fighting arena, caged roosters, and numerous dead roosters. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Livestock Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

As a result, the spectators received a citation for Spectating a Cockfight and the homeowner, identified as 54-year-old Felipe Morales, was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he was charged with Cockfighting.

The Livestock Unit also obtained a seizure warrant for 56 live roosters and five dead roosters. With assistance from the Montgomery County Animal Services, the roosters were relocated to the Sheriff’s Office Livestock Impound, where they will be held until the outcome of the seizure hearing.
