THE WOODLANDS, TX – Eben Hazer Place is dedicated to bringing hope to the vulnerable by supporting them in their spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. We serve families in distress due to divorce, family violence, human trafficking, migration, lost of job, or their homes by fire or flood. Now, they have announced a new initiative designed to preempt the coming winter: Coat for a Friend.

Collection locations are being set up for coat drive October 3-14

“The people we help pay nothing for our services,” said Elda Edith Maldonado Eb, the Managing Director of Eben Hazer Place, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. “Many have nothing to wear except that which they have on and are in desperate need of clean, ready-to-wear clothing. Most of our current clients have never experienced a winter in Texas, and we are expected to have a freezing winter this year. You can make a difference in their life, by bringing an ‘abrigo para un amigo’ (coat for a friend).”

Maldanado and her staff are completely dependent upon public donations. They need all sizes of new or used winter clothing, accessories, and shoes for this event. She is offering local businesses and other entities to set up collection boxes from October 3-14, for a distribution to the needy in early November.

“You will make it a little easier for people who are just getting on their own feet,” said Maldonado. “Working people – people who do not expect help but with tears in their eyes – are so thankful for your caring heart. For people who know what it is to struggle, a helping hand can keep them believing there is hope.”
