THE WOODLANDS, TX – This Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Condition 1 Combat Center will be hosting a seminar free to all ISD teachers to learn how to protect themselves and others in a mass shooting situation. Fit to Fight’s Active Killer Defense program prepares everyday citizens to respond to a mass attack situation if they are armed or unarmed.

Holiday season violence expected as recession looms

“I believe this is critically important for our teachers to have the skills to mitigate and intelligently defend themselves and their students in a school environment that has become such a soft target for extreme violence,” said Condition 1 Combat founder Joe Morris. “As we head into the holidays and we increasingly hear about guns being brought into schools as a community, we need to do all we can to support teachers and their students’ safety.”

Michael Matranga, is a former Secret Service Agent and currently serves on the Texas City ISD school board. Matranga believes that the government just isn’t doing enough to deter gunmen in Schools.

“Our focus and goal is to empower educational staff for what could be their worst day. We simply can no longer wait on those in political positions who don’t grasp the reality of the dangers educational staff face daily. Political bureaucracy has and will continue to delay common sense, real life and practical solutions as seen in Uvalde and so many unfortunate shootings. We must provide our staff with the tools they need to survive in an ever-changing, fast-paced and violent society they can utilize in the classroom and in the public with their families. People are the true first responders and we must equip them as such.”

Future Condition 1 Combat Active Killer Defense seminars are also planned for corporate professionals and will continue to be offered free of charge to teachers and school employees.

Condition 1 Combat Center teaches and trains a fight-centric form of self-defense to prepare students for real-world combat and to be ready in a moment’s notice. Founded by Joe Morris, a second degree Krav Maga black belt, Fit to Fight Defensive Options Certified Instructor and decorated US Marine combat veteran, the school offers adult and children’s classes in self-defense disciplines that include striking, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Krav Maga.
