THE WOODLANDS, TX – This Thanksgiving weekend, there’s much to be thankful for. In searching for the silver lining, weather wise, we here at the Woodlands Online Weather Center can say that we’re thankful – if not a tad impressed – that all four seasons will be represented in this one long weekend.

Warm and cold… wet and dry… what a Thanksgiving weekend

This day-after-Thanksgiving Friday, we’re almost already at our high of 63, which will stay consistent for the rest of the day even as significant rain showers move in. Black Friday will be more grey than anything as we maintain near-total cloud coverage as the pressure plummets. The low will drop only a few degrees down to 59 as the rains keep up their steady pace throughout the afternoon, evening, and overnight. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy some warm indoors fun, so think about hitting The Red Brick Tavern in Conroe as live music with Bart Alan Woytek hits the stage.

(Note that the National Weather Service has already put out a Flood Warning for the area until tomorrow morning, so keep an extra eye out for slick roads and standing water as you make your way back home.)

Early Saturday the rains will start to dwindle and by lunchtime should be a recent memory. Right as they taper off, our high in the mid 60s will start to plummet, and by midnight we’ll be into the 40s. Perhaps you’d like to enjoy this weather sweet spot by enjoying some indoor/outdoor fun at the Open Thanksgiving Weekend at The Learning Zoo, with great animal-related activities for the entire family.

The decidedly winter weather will turn positively springlike on Sunday as all the clouds decide to move on and the rains hit other areas. We’ll enjoy a sunny day with temps reaching the 70s. The remnants of the precipitation in the air will also jack up the humidity, so believe it or not you’ll feel absolutely muggy as you prepare to head back to work on Monday. To get back into the holiday spirit, head across I-45 to Oak Ridge North as they celebrate their annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

Another low in the 40s will be the last such overnight in a while as a low pressure system starts moving in and we just might hit the 80s during the first part of next week…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
