Residents show up in masses for The Woodlands Township 3R Drive-thru event

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township hosted the 3R Recycling Drive-thru on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 9 a.m. to noon at The Woodlands High School. Over 700 vehicles drove through the event for free recycling of select items and secure document shredding.

With the help of over 100 volunteers from local partner organizations, a record breaking 30,000 pounds of material was collected for recycling. Participants generously gave $2,300 and 1,600 pounds of canned food in donation to Interfaith of The Woodlands Food Pantry.

1st Place - College Park $1,000

2nd Place – Creekside Park $850

3rd Place – Indian Springs $750

Thank you to the organizations that made the event a success including: American Shredding, AmSty, Coldwell Banker Metropolitan, Creekview Elementary PTO, Junior Girl Scout Troop #108094, Montgomery County Master Gardener Association, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Recycling Facility, National Charity League Texas Laurels and Bluebonnets Chapters (NCL), National Charity Roundtable (NCR), Hailey Elementary PTA, Sierra Shred, Simple Recycling, Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER), Texas Master Naturalist Heartwood Chapter, The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., Travis Manion Foundation, The Woodlands Christian Academy Interact Club, The Woodlands College Park High School Key and Environmental Action Clubs, The Woodlands High School Science National Honor Society, The Woodlands Lions Club, Universal Waste Solutions, and Wilkerson Intermediate PTO.

The 2022 Recycling Village Challenge item was lightbulbs. The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. awards money to participating village associations with an added amount for the villages that collected the most lightbulbs. 100% of these funds support youth education.
