UPDATE: Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Investigates Shooting on Peach Creek in New Caney

NEW CANEY, TX -- Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit have identified the suspect wanted in the shooting that occurred in New Caney on December 5th as 22-year-old Mason Lee Young.

Detectives have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Young for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and are seeking the community’s assistance in locating him.

Mason Young is considered armed and dangerous; if you see him, please avoid contact and call 911 immediately.

On December 5, 2022, at around 7:00 am MCTXSheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an Assault with a Firearm call in the 26000 block of Peach Creek Drive in New Caney. Upon arrival deputies learned that a 31 year old white male had been shot. The male was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Investigators responded and are currently investigating this incident. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and the suspect’s identity is still under investigation at this time.

The incident stemmed from an argument amongst several individuals and a firearm was produced, leading to the shooting. It is believed this is an isolated incident.

This is an active investigation and no further information is available for release at this time.
