Three Arrested, Multiple Stolen Vehicles and Narcotics Recovered in Montgomery County Auto Theft Bust

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 a.m., deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 4 Patrol received a call regarding a stolen truck that the owner had tracked to a specific location on Decker Drive. The owner’s proactive tracking efforts led deputies to the scene, where they arrived to find two males in the process of removing identifying markings from the vehicle. At the same time, deputies noticed a female entering a newer model recreational vehicle (RV) parked at the same location. Deputies approached the individuals and made contact, ultimately detaining all three.
Detectives from the Auto Theft Task Force arrived to take over the investigation. Their investigation confirmed that the RV was also stolen, having been taken from Brazos County. In total, the investigation resulted in the recovery of several stolen items: a trailer, a recreational vehicle, and two additional stolen vehicles. Furthermore, law enforcement officials discovered various narcotics on the scene, including marijuana and methamphetamine, resulting in additional charges against the detained individuals.
The arrested individuals were identified as 31-year-old Matthew Raines from Cypress, 27-year-old Michael Hughes from Waller, and 47-year-old Desiree Rushing from Houston. Each is currently held in the Montgomery County Jail and faces multiple charges, including theft and possession of controlled substances. The investigation continues as detectives work to uncover any further connections related to the thefts. The Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force receives funding and training from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.
